But the mansion I had dreamed about When Life was young and goals drew nigh, Was very different from the Heaven I imagined while on the wings of night. Life taught me to see a different light. I sat on a hill overlooking small homes Built along those streets of gold – There was not one being in sight, There were all inside their happy homes. And I knew what was going on inside. Families were talking and sharing. They made plans about helping others. There were no worries about who did what. It was a quiet place with the purest dreams. No one yelled at another or called names. No one was jealous because … All of the homes were the same. Everyone was equal in one another’s’ eyes. And God’s love was everywhere. Then, I realized, in my lovely little daydream That only the soul of a man, his essence, lives. Our mansion in heaven is what we want it to be. Some like extravagance and lots of gold.
