Christmas Day
Christmas When I Was Seven When I awake it will be Christmas Day! I'm so excited and I hope and pray that Santa heard my wish for what I need, for it's the only thing I want indeed. My eyes, still open, in my cozy bed, I'm nice and warm beneath my quilted spread. But soon, I am asleep in land of dreams, and there is Santa with a smile that gleams! Beside him is the present I'd wished for! And I'm so happy, ready to explore my chalkboard which, with jet black slate on legs, drops down to make a desk held up by pegs. There's lots of colored chalk, eraser too, for me to draw and color, turn into the artist that I hope to be someday with practice on my new chalkboard display. I woke that morn and from my bed, I fled... ran down the stairs and to the tree ahead! And there it was, my happy dream came true... my chalkboard! Oh, dear Santa, I thank you! Sandra M.
