If I Were An Elephant
If I were an elephant If I were an elephant, now that would be a sight I couldn’t sneak around the house, my clothes would fit too tight I’d need an extra pair of shoes and Q-tips by the case A ton of anti-wrinkle cream to use upon my face I’d have to buy a bigger car, a compact just won’t do Quit my job and hope to find employment at the zoo You’d have to hide your peanuts anytime that I’m around And jogging, that would soon become a stampede through the town But maybe it won’t be so bad if that became my fate My trunk would make it easier for me to find a date I’d be the biggest creature ever seen around this land And putting up your Christmas lights I’d surely give a hand I never would forget a thing, now that’s a scary thought Remembering the good times and the bad times that we fought But in the end I’m sure that everything would be just fine I’d learn to like my new found life, it wouldn’t take much time For if I were an elephant I’m sure that you would see Regardless of the size of things I still would be just me (and I’ve always been afraid of mice, so some things never change) 12/06/16 Written for the If I were an Elephant poetry contest Hosted by Mystic Rose
