Auntie
Auntie In her lofty ways, she was always the best example of the stars out-shining the moon. Her ways of doing things always correct and proper she was a student of the Queen. Place setting and China decoratively graced the table per the law of “Good Housekeeping” Seating arrangements were labeled. Without a P.H.D she could so eloquently speak delivering the “Kings English” explicitly her with her twelfth-grade education. Auntie, though dignified and learned quoted Un-biblical quotes from other bibles. Such as,"cleanliness is next to Godliness ". I would say well,” didn't God make dirt too”? "Don't be asinine" she would say Seemed as if the emphasis would be on the "ass" I would laugh... If she thought I was not looking she would laugh too. Auntie could hardly pass up a good humorous exchange no matter how ostentatious or outrageous. If us children failed to understand her commands She’d spell out D.O.B.I.C (“don’t be so “d.o.b.i.c”). She’d watch our mouths move as we Tried figuring the meaning of this strange word That obviously was not endearing. Auntie With her well-groomed, manicured demeanor was not just groomed well on Sundays. Immaculately,Auntie served her God faithfully Each day. I have never known her to beg or borrow. Never seen her complain as "Arthur" took his toll on her knees. She was faithful to the end and though she had no children of her own, Auntie was the nurturer of us, who were blessed enough to be corrected by her, or to eat a slice of her lemon meringue pie. Anytime I think of her I remember the sweetest music coming from the piano that she played daily. She displayed her mood with music- Her music voiced her thoughts in pitch and range, as she became one with the keys and chords. She’d close her eyes and sing. There was no room for "I can't"-- and no excuse for not trying. She finally gave up on me Learning the piano - That ruler had taken its toll on my knuckles' Even if you failed at any attempt to do things as right as she wanted: After a hardy reprimanding Auntie was sure to have our favorite Food and clean bed, with fluffy pillows waiting. I loved her so much that every now and then I must write about this amazing Sister to my mother. Her name... Rosella Faye Graham Derrickson Myers ... And yes, she would say her whole ''title" if you were to ask her, her name. Her spirit lives on... Within the many lives that she has touched. Especially mine.
