I turned to walk away from her believing she would stop me hold me back call after me beg me not to go; I turned and walked away… She did not stop me Nor did she call me back. Step after faltering step, I kept wandering away from her, At each step hoping she would stop me, Hoping at any moment she would call me back – But I kept on going drifting away from her until I was near her no more. Oh, she did not stop me nor did she call me back. At every turn I stopped, Struggled awhile to wait Floundered hopelessly then moved on— forever separated from her. Not until she was torn asunder did I realize, How sick at heart I was How gravely hurt I was How intensely I missed her. Alas, she did not stop me, She did not call me back. ~Unrequited Love contest by Nayda Ivette Negron.
