Prophet of Shadows
In the heart of the darkness I await For here there exists an eternal promise For those who accept their fate And know the light they'll never miss Demons call me the harbinger of horror Angels call me the herald of heresy Yet I indulge in my own alluring grandeur For I feel I am the prophet of shadows When I rejected the call of the light I was but a wee lad barely able to stand Yet I knew my place when I looked upon the sun And found myself quickly blinded At night I would slink into my bedroom And lose myself in the coating of darkness For here I was little more than a specter Given refuge from the world of light For when the morning sun would rise The living room would be a battleground Littered with broken bottles and vomit As my parents lay in a puddle of blood It was then that Lucifer appeared before me With eyes not unkind he held out a hand Within which he held a delightful balm The cloak of darkness for me to wear Thus in the heart of the darkness I await For here there exists an eternal promise For those who accept their fate And know the light they'll never miss Demons call me the harbinger of horror Angels call me the herald of heresy But if you take my hand and slip into the depths You will find in me an eternal friend
