Friends
Northern Ireland In 69,On the firs day,It seemed just fine,On day two,We all awoke,This second day,It was no joke,Outside we came,Onto the Shankhhill Road,Shields And Batons,Rifles to load,Thousands of people,In an uproar,That was the,First day we sore,How some in Ireland,Were friends no more,WE stood there,All in rows,As Missiles and Bricks,Bounced off our toes,The first rank opened,And out we went,Batons ready,In the crowd,We were sent,Soon petrol bombs,Came at us,Our clothes set alight,But this,Never stopped us,To continue the fight,Many were injured,Some did not return,And in my mind,These images still burn,Lets not forget,This terrible time,These were Brothers,Friends of mine,Spare A thought,Not just for those,But the soldiers,Still suffering,Who still live,With these woes,PTSD Is all around,I still jump,At the slightest sound,This weekend will be,So hard for me,And many Brothers,And sisters will see,The horrors they encountered,They will live again,So spare A thought,For those in pain,
