My Lion
In my dream a huge lion is stalking me, Somewhere in the shadows, in my periphery Sometimes in my house he's walking the floor, I stand there terrified, with my ear to the door. Sometimes he gets close, I feel his warm breath I know if he gets me he'll maul me to death, Why does this lion enter my dreams, Just to fill me with panic and terror it seems. I have met him at night, in a dark empty street In the silence I hear the soft fall of his feet, Naught but a glimpse, a shadow with a mane I'm terrified and alone with my lion again. But he never quite gets me, I always escape Just as he pounces, in a sweat I awake, So there I lie, my heart going like a train My recurring lion had came calling again. My lion once looked at me right in the eye, All I saw was anger, I didn't know why Why was he here, what was my sin Is he here to haunt me, or is he something within. Once again thinking, A dream or a sign Is he telling me something, this lion of mine And if he is, I wish I understood Because as he stalks me, I fear he wants blood.
