That One Week
That one week I thought my life would change, We would chat and our date we'd arrange. We felt fantastic, everything was great, This was our time, this was our fate. We would meet, we'd kiss and always hug, 'We're gonna do this' we'd say and shrug. We both had things really tough in the past, Damn sure this time, it was gonna last. 'I won't break your heart', she openly said So, I let her be with me, inside my head. I lost 'the one' three years ago, I was a 'fool' then and she let me go. We met every day, just for a little while, She complimented my wit and I her style. Our feelings became stronger, the more we'd chat, With similar humour, it was all 'this and that' The weekend together we would organise, Wine, food, music, the stars, this would all arise. Both excited at what all this would bring, I could feel my heart thump, I could feel it sing. And then it came, the thump down to earth, I had let her in, for all it was worth. I'd been hurt before, by opening my heart, It looks like again, it will fall apart. A message from her and my fate was sealed, 'I can't give you what you want' she bluntly revealed. My head goes cloudy, so what have I done wrong? I have become this fool again...strung along?
