Magdalena Number 2
“MAGDALENA #2” as I walk the dry grasses in search of life, Hell’s hands pull me under. as I pass the empty roads of dejection, Hell laughs as it offers me scalding water to drink. as the fences separate the insanity into smaller bits of insanity, the hours on my clock go in reverse. the nightmares dangle my dreams of foolishness, the waterfalls are without splash and sound and the trips inside my head have no destination. the hills of Hell are never-ending and as I pass each post of darkness, the love I carry for you, forever burns, lighting my way. I see your smile, I hear your laugh and down in the distance, you call out for me. I’m lost, I’m low and I can’t get back to anything I’ve known. I can hear your voice, “You think I’d leave your side baby? You know me better than that. You think I’d leave you down when you’re down on your knees? I wouldn’t do that.” I’ve come to my last blade of dead grass, the tour through Hell is in intermission. within reach, is a garden of life. you emerge from the shadows and take my hand. “Together, we walk this path,” you say. you’ve shown me I’m so much better than I’ve known myself to be. goodnight my darling, I love you.
