The lies that were told The promises that were broken And never to be I knew then there was something More, bothering me I would cry and cry And try to figure things out My mind would be filled With assumptions and doubt I even thought There was another woman Which made me feel Unloved and unwanted I did not know that something Inside someone, could Have so much control That it could cause them To treat the ones They love so much, so cold Competition with addiction Is hard to understand And only a woman who loves so much, Will stand by her man But, there comes a time When….. You have to give up And let the addiction win I loved him so much And i still do But to compete with addiction, I realized the only way to survive Was to do what i had to I had to leave behind a man That was so good and so kind But had a sickness That controlled his soul and his mind I was in competition with this Awful addiction And my love for him was so strong That i constantly reminded Him he was doing wrong It makes me sad he let me go so easily But then i realized The sickness inside of him Made him believe The only way 'he' could survive Was to be rid of me I loved him so much And i still do I would go back in a moment If i knew the sickness inside of him Was gone and he would be true If the lies would stop And the denial was conquered And our life could be Filled with love and honor By: charlene soliario July 1997
