Castles In the Sky
There were days of youth, building castles in the sky, cool green grass, an old shade tree, my secret place. Clouds drifting by on summer breeze were my pallet, childish imagination the brush, a blue sky for canvas. Great walls rise in white and gray blue block, towers tall stack as breeze lifts them to heights. Gates open and close, to my whim and delight, earth below, my kingdom, spreads forever wide. I would float softly above the toil of earth below, my young dreams of freedom to roam the sky. Dragons soar in majestic grace, to my command, to watch them rise and fall in cloud bare space. At times skies will darken, gates are drawn, rumbles of war drums would announce the fight. With lightning’s flash came wars wind and rain, to come the rainbow, a pact of peace promised. Older now, still building castles in the sky, I’m yet the mighty king floating from on high. cool green grass, an old shade tree looking up, holding hands with my queen, in our secret place.
