Unbearable Beauty In White
Her casket closed at her request, so no one saw our beauty queen there lying peacefully at rest, in her soft dress of white sateen. Her white hair combed in silky curls at fifty-five, was premature; around her neck a string of pearls- an added touch of white allure. Her porcelain white skin still glowed although, her journey had been hard. Inside, all white to black erode with cancer's spread and disregard. And there she lay within a white cocoon of tufted satin weave, inside her coffin, hands hold tight white rosary beneath her sleeve. Our broken hearts and tear-filled eyes, in death beheld her loveliness; white angels with her soul would rise to Heaven's lasting happiness. And no one saw our beauty queen, besides close family that night; our mother dear- at peace, serene, unbearable- beauty in white.
