Poem Ending With a Chilling Twist
"SHE WAS A GREAT WOMAN...BUT DEPRESSED" A happy girl was she who grew up to try her very best. The same story that lingers when you see her smile- SHE had been remarkably talented triumphed every test, overcoming obstacles seemed to be her personal style. A cheerful girl WAS she so delighted to lend a hand, volunteering in the soup kitchen to help less fortunate- Whenever I needed a shoulder to cry she did understand, a heart so generous with A soul so compassionate. I didn’t see the warning signs or the frown under the grin, I never read her intuitions of feeling like a lost cause- She held internal reservations; felt she was full of sin, when I knew she was a GREAT WOMAN with very few flaws. New Year’s Eve she took the pills and drank her last cup of rum, BUT she had planned it for so many days maybe even weeks- I read her farewell not knowing where the pain came from, “I can’t go on another day…I’m so DEPRESSED and utterly weak.” I am supposed to write a poem with a chilling twisted conclusion, maybe my story isn’t scary or good enough for a placement- But seeing an angel fall from grace dying from painful self-execution, me living in a convoluted and appalling life is an understatement. I always saw her magic- A life ended so tragic. I always saw her good- Never thought she would. Date Written: September 11, 2016
