It Seems So Long Ago, It Seems Like Only Yesterday
All I can think when I watch the old tapes is how the sky was so brilliantly blue that lovely September day, that morning, so long ago. I'll never forget it - will you? That beautiful day, that horrible day. So long ago, yet so close you can still feel it. I try to avoid the videos. They’re all so vivid as though it’s happening again the same disbelief, the same shock, the same blue sky, the same tears, but once a year around this time I make myself watch if only to see, that brave person, whoever he was, or she, who stood in the gaping hole of Tower One, waving a white towel letting us know that he, or she, was still there, still alive, still calling, silently, for help that would never arrive. and every time I watch those tapes I know the end will never change and yet, every year, I still wave back.
