Alone
The worst thing about being old and alone is feeling forgotten. Feeling the blood pump and thump in your ears in the dark of night and praying you'll fall asleep. Remembering the warmth of a lover's skin, hoping someday you'll see him again. Remembering the joy you once felt you smile and laugh to yourself. But silence takes over soon and once again you're alone in your room. Time passes so slow and yet you wonder, "Where did it go?" "Where are the sweet innocent smiles of those babies who loved me dear?" And as the tears roll down your face, you're happy for their soothing grace. It's been so long since you cried. It's almost as if you already died. And you wonder, "Was it really that long ago that someone loved me so?" By: Carole O'Terry Duet Copyright: Feb. 26, 2007 "All Rights Reserved"
