Warned
Warned My teacher warned me that boys act mean if they like you but not that they will say they love you and then beat the shit out of you My doctor warned me that staying up late playing games isn't healthy, but not that I won't be able to sleep because i can't stop crying my mom warned me about drugs ruining your life, but not that they are the only thing that makes you feel alive My dad was never around and so my mom warned me that he was dangerous My sister warned me that having sex gets you pregnant, but not that the boy you think loves you only wants you for it. My family warned me and said not to talk to people on the internet but not that most of the time there the only ones there when you are breaking down in the middle of the night My friends warned me that if I wasn't pretty enough no one would love me , but not that even if you are considered pretty that your mind plays tricks and makes you think that you're not. My poems warned me that I'm depressed but didn't give me the strength to tell them to people. My point is people tell you things just to make sure you don't get hurt but the thing is it just gets worse. Hailee burkett 8-15-16
