Looking Back
We went to a wedding on Saturday, Both very tired when we came away. I walked down the road to collect the car, Past all the noise and color from every bar. Remembering when that was all our scene, Dining out and to a few bars we had been. The time on the clock said it was just ten, We'd be just about ready to go out then. The Harbor would be buzzing as we walked, The lights all twinkling for the nights show. But now we were tired and heading for bed, Time has a way of letting you know, That now is the time for you to let go. The pleasures we had when we were young, We still remember the songs that we sung. As we start to relax in these twilight years, It's hard to look back without a few tears. We all like to think we could still do now, What we all did, not so many years ago. So I collected the car and picked up my wife, We drove home together, still happy with life. © Dave Timperley 22 August 2016
