Our Secret Garden
Our Secret Garden. There is a place at our home that we hold dear, If you come and see it , it will become clear. No entry is there except from my study door, If you come have a peep then you will see more. No gate at the back, no way from the side, A nice little place where we can go hide. There are plants and trees all growing there, But it's a hard struggle for there's no soil there. There are Yucca's that thrive in the desert conditions, Aloe Vera in pots some plants need provisions, Of regular watering or they will not grow, And some seem to flourish on a sprinkling or so. We have Olive trees, four, which we crop every year, Geraniums too if left alone will grow fifteen feet near. So here in our secret garden we can sit without fear, For most folk say it's too far to ever come here. The Saturday eight all come through the gate, We it comes round to our turn to celebrate, So apart from our children who come every year, No one in the village or Paphos ever come near, Perhaps we should one day put up a banner, Saying everyone's welcome at NoMates Manor. © Dave Timperley 10 August 2016
