Where It All Goes
Cold fate, indifferent bridegroom to the soul Has torn away with rough hands his wife’s veil If only for a word that could console Bright light inside our hearts grows tired and pale Gold glow that once reflected off your face That magic sunlit day in summer’s park It travels somewhere still, through time and space Warm rays of our love yet give light to dark The sounds of your voice echo in my ears Tall waves that crest upon a stormy sea They’ve merged with the vibrations of this sphere Yet always will resound inside of me But most of all, the love you freely gave Still radiating out from its sweet start I hold it close so it can keep me brave This treasure trove of you within my heart But these things don’t just vanish in the void Although it seems the've left us with no trace The heart knows they can never be destroyed In time, they come together in that place Where all that is eternal reunites And all the love that’s been returns again The center of bright, coalescing light Our destiny, in God’s joyous domain © 7/21/16 Thomas Quigley
