Embrace the Lines
EMBRACE THE LINES CONTEST Sponsor: David Lindsay There was an unexpected letter left upon my night stand… I anticipated this letter would enter my life at the exact moment it was meant to. Through all the love we have shared nothing will ever allow my heart to stop beating for him. When he was diagnosed our worlds were shattered. For how can I live a life without him? Where would I lay my head so gently at night if not for on his chest? I needed answers. Life spills out so many questions and nothing could calm my anxieties. Nothing except the lines of his letter filled with verses meant for only me. He spoke of the deep passion we had lived for over twenty years. Intense benevolence only two lovers can share. His words caught my soul on fire and my eyes could see nothing but…his eyes. My hands could feel nothing but…his hands. My lips could feel nothing but…his lips. The more I read the more I wept. The more I wept the more intense my emotions became. My favorite paragraph read like this, “I know baby, you will feel alone without my arms holding you. I know you will try to reach the heavens for one single touch. Please feel me in the breeze and smell my scent in the smiles of our daughter. Our life together was short yes, but we have created many lifetimes of romance and devotion. Enough to fill the rest of your years feeling my passion as you close your eyes before whispering goodnight to sweet Ella. May these words embrace your essence and may my soul take on a whole new meaning after I am gone. For no matter the distance, I am always with you…” After reading it I decided I will listen to his words full of wisdom. I will live on believing that two people can bare more love in twenty years than possibly fifty. Life is short but true love is forever. I will never meet another man like him, nor do I need or wish to. For no matter what life brings me, until my last breath I will read his letter every night before I close my weary eyes. For I shall always embrace his lines… death can bring you hope words can bring your heart healing embracing his lines ~Prose followed by Senyru~ Date Written: July 9, 2016
