Where I Should Be
Lord, had it not been forYour eternal love and mercy through out the years. The worried and the caring eyes of my dear mother as she wiped away the hurt and tears. The forgiveness and love of a good and caring wife. As she would try to pick up the pieces of my tangled and worthless life. And my children that looked at me with that glorious awe. Even with all honesty I wasn't fit to be called their pa. Life just didn't have any meaning, no reason, no purpose. I was just plumb no good, a sorry, worthless cuss. Life was hard or maybe that's the way I made it. You had to be tough and that's the way I played it. A cold beer, pack of smokes, a pocket full of money. That was my life, the way I lived it, what a honey. I know that may sound satisfying to some folks, but I was hollow. Just an empty shell, looking for a place to lay down and wallow. Lord, I know now You never closed the door or shut me out. It was I that turned away, I was the one full of doubt. I was the prodical son, to ashamed, to proud, to afraid to ask forgiveness. From the one who is FORGIVENESS. I did not know Your arms ached to hold me, as much as I ached to be held. Father, forgive me for the hand I played wasn't the one You dealt. When we are young we think we're made of steel. Indestructable and full of knowledge is the way we feel. But age is wisdom, and wisdom is age And the more that we read, we realize we're all reaching the last page. Steel sooner or later turns to rust. Guess what, rust is just another form of dust. Put all your faith in the Lord and He will keep you strong. As we journey through this life to reach where we belong!
