For My Mother
For My Mother Although you are not here with me today, Mom On quiet nights, I sometimes remember How you held my hand and led the way Those past years never to be forgotten When I was lost, your words of encouragement Guided me to the narrow path of fulfillment And now that I am grown, I look back To see you, Mom, my Knight in shining armor When times were hard, you fought your misty eyed tears How difficult it must have been to hide your most inner fears And even though you needed love and comforting too Your sacrifices were for me, unselfish and without thought of you You taught me to never give up, always be myself each day To follow my dreams, not letting anything stand in my way I will try my best but you know it's not easy for me, Mom To follow in your footsteps, but I'll never let you down And now that you are no longer here for me to say I look upon my children with the hope that someday, They can understand why I often look at the stars for you, An Angel, still guiding and forever watching over us too ****** Gone But Not Forgotten I thank you Mom!
