The Boy Who
When I was a little girl, I admired the boy who made me laugh, the boy who sang too loudly and danced too wildly. When I was a young teen, I crushed on the boy with the goofy smile, the boy with the crooked glasses who loved life unconditionally. When I was in high school, I cherished the boy who respected me, the boy who not only looked at me, but saw who I was. When I was in college, I fell for the boy who loved me, the boy whose heart was my safe haven. When I was all of these things, they told me I would love the boy, the boy whose spirit mirrored that of my fathers. I laughed. When I stood at the alter, I looked at my father and saw the boy, the boy whose bright eyes taught me what love is.
