My Melancholy Song
Oh, sweet darling, wherever did you go? When summer vanishes, my days grow long. And now as I catch glimpses of first snow I think of you - my melancholy song. And in this song is always the refrain - Oh, sweet darling, wherever did you go? My tears begin to fall with autumn’s rain, and pain embraces me as harsh winds blow. How soft was your caress beneath the glow of August’s moon! But then you went away. Oh, sweet darling, wherever did you go? Forever more, I’ll hear that sad refrain. Your whispered words of love are in its tune. Play on, sad melody; my tears now flow while I recall our kiss beneath the moon. Oh, sweet darling, wherever did you go? Written May 1, 2016 for Gren's Evergreens (Golden Oldies) # 2 Contest My feelings, a few words and symbols I used were inspired by parts of all three songs given by the judge: see links to the three beautiful songs above in my notes
