A Dollar and a Dilemma
It's just another day for the lonely man who resides in the concrete pipe. As the sunset emerges so does his strife. People passing by look upon him with haste. He is a single man with a familiar face. A dilemma and a dollar is all he has to his claim. He is lonely and broken and when the sun goes down, he knows he endured another day of the same. Wheels keep turning in his head as he lays underground, his dreams are tarnished and his aspirations down. A beer can reflects the light from the stars above and he feels comfortable in the pipe underground. Living life on the edge is where he feels he belongs. A dollar and a dilemma is all he has to his name. Going to bed hungry is usual again. He hopes for good fortune but the game is too long. His memory is faded like the words of an old song. He keeps suppressing his thoughts wallowing in a can of beer. Hoping he doesn't have to fear another year, with a dollar and a dilemma in his pocket and a card up his sleeve he always manages in his little retreat. This is based on a true story about a homeless veteran.
