After the Rain
The cold air still lingers from the storm And the rain reduces to a mist The trees still drip, and the grass wet. The earth drinks up the water As if she were entering a drought. When the sky is empty, and the mist stops The clouds begin to move on. A deer can be seen wandering through the wood, A squirrel explores the fresh new world. And the birds begin their song of awakening. The sun peeks around the clouds, And the earth begins to come alive. A rainbow forms across the sky, Ducks float across the lake, Deer drink from the still waters, Squirrels scurry around searching for food, And birds fly from tree to tree seeking love. Days slowly pass, jumbled in a mass. Grass begins to grow, flowers start to bloom. Beauty spreads as winter transforms into spring The world blooms before your eyes As if she were a new flower in the beginning Death becomes life in the awake of the morn.
