Inspired Insecurities
As our paths diverge from one I envision us a setting sun Resist the urge to run from night Comforted only by your gleaming light As the North Star would guide one home Shines in my soul that I fear should roam Your stars so bright, but out of reach Lacking the skill of patience you teach Yearning soley for the light of day To keep my fears of doubt at bay Swerve and crash on the road life has laid In my rearview mirror your image fades Terrified destiny will keep us apart Worried for our survival as we are one heart Always the darkest, just before dawn In fate’s game of chess, played always as pawns The coward’s way out would be to just leave So you wear all our hope right on your sleeve You say the world would never be so cruel And will defend true love as a general rule And remind me that I can’t let go And that deep down we somehow know Our love could never be star crossed And time was all we ever lost With daybreak that we will amend As we realize together time ceases to end And even through shouts of battle cries We know our setting sun will rise The hazardous road we did somehow escape Able to watch our sunrise in awe, mouths agape We walk together, apart, in line And will forever intertwine
