The Voice of the Susquehanna
The word of the Lord spoke, And from the depths, the mountains awoke. Water burst forth, and the ground was torn. It was then that I was born. I journeyed south, following the mountain breeze. And I made peace between the warring trees, Between the oak and the maple, I made a division. And now from a distance they cant repay a derision. It was God that gave me jurisdiction over this land. The sediments fell where I told them to stand. For years I carved out this creek, Between the Catskills and my friend the Chesapeake. Then like a firestorm from hell Came those dregs, encamped in their citadel. They are that disgusting group, descended from Adam’s line. The touch of their hand withers the vine. I used to have freewheeling tributaries. Now they’re choked up with bridges and crap factories. They are a disgusting lot. And the name of their town is Endicott.
