Healing From a Goodbye
While I drain, a kohl tint buries my face And minutes change into hours when dim sky retreats When moonlight paints a texture with pained grace; My brother laying on time's edge... dawn hangs low. The closed door grips, paling a ghostly shade I taste the bitter oil of a requiem, Eyes grating like sand , a blank frame portrayed. Spilling a moan till nightfall , to review All the vignettes from slices of laughter, Of youthful journeys through paths aflame... Still, the lucid screen of joys spent rises high Across bright clouds,feathery.. fine as mink That my own sigh releases a goodbye; As his daughter, my god-child opens the link; When we begin a new life together in my home. ----------------- When A Door Closes Contest for Broken Wings 3/28/2016
