When To Thee, O Lord
When to Thee my Lord I return After the days of my mortality, Let me not to damnation arrive At the bitter side of eternity. Purge me Oh Lord of all guilt That could deprive me of You, And never let my heart ever fail On what I hold the most true. Hold my hands, guide my feet, As a parent does to a little child; Lead me through The Ancient path That leads to Your glorious side. O what would be my defence If despite the blood of Your Son, My soul fails to make it Home After all is being said and done?! O, if the wings on which I fly Are wheels of peril in disguise, Break them beyond any repairs And let me the truth realise. For I was once so close to fire That I still smell of its smoke; Ah! Why again would I be a fool To bear a surrendered yoke?! And so I pray when I return After the end of this mortal life: "May I be worthy of that crown That surpasses every strife.
