God's Distress: a Poem For Easter
Ere the conception of man When the whole was void and formless And prevailing upon all was darkness When Divine spirits moved upon shoreless waters All was sullen, yet serene, still saintly God knew more peace Even in His three-piece Ere the first insubordination Whence the first couple fancied the maker’s foe And received from his offer, the fruit, the forbidden Still by their offspring The first butchery of man by man Ere the incidence of all these God knew more peace Thence forward Given man’s consistent insubordination And the estrangement Of the divine from man, His beloved God has known less peace Since man began to prefer a fellow’s rocky buttocks Even to maidens’ bosoms God has known less peace For uncontently,he watched how hapless Men were in despicable conditions Like strangers in strange lands Unguarded, unguided With no hope to help God’s distress has got no less No less than men’s unableness To aid themselves Hence it became unnecessary To hold onto the only begotten For certain it had gotten That till the betrayal with the kiss God was to know less peace But today, God Even men, have come to know peace Thanks to that betrayal with the kiss
