Shoplift To a Job
ShopLift To A Job From a bustling town called Bukit Mertajam, a mainland part of Penang Island, Outbreaks a story that warms the heart, about a man being given a helping hand. With a headline that boasts of a shoplifter who is offered a job after being caught, Here for once is news of goodwill from the heart for one man down in luck. 31 year Redzuan was a contract worker, daily sacrificing blood, sweat and tears, Able in mind and body, like countless others in the profession, he worked through the years. Until the cruel hand of Fate dealt him a bad card that crumbles his house like cards, All his hard toil and diligence for a dream of a happy household came to naught. When troubles descended that broke his resolve and mess up his morale, As a family man, lost in a sea of misfortunes, and a hard time with little money. Imagine the depths of despair he must have felt when his bedrock of a wife in his growing family, Was suddenly stricken into coma in a difficult childbirth and lost her baby, it warrants sympathy. With 3 young ones, aged 2 to seven, and a comatose wife, what is Redzuan to do, He quit his contract job, to feed the kids and his meagre savings to make do. Then came this day, he and his boy have had not the money to catch the public bus, Under the blazing sun he and his boy had trudged an hour, with gnawing hunger and thirst. Out of money, driven to desperation, and the feeling of the devil be damned, At the nearest Tesco family store, he gathered a canned drink and some fruits. Going out of the store, needless to say, he was caught readily for broad daylight pilfering, It is universally unacceptable, when someone brazenly walks in and boldly takes without paying. Brought before the store manager as a thief, Redzuan’s story of misery invoke sympathy, To his credit, the store manager has a compassionate nature, as reflected in his final verdict. The compassion in him offered some financial assistance and providence from the store, The human in him proposed a paying job for a fallen man who was once fine before. So now this little story of a petty crime of necessity is now a show case for society, How else do we explain how this feel good story that has gone viral and tops in popularity.
