Obsessions
Obsessions by Shirley Rebstock 3/13/2016 Every Wednesday as the sky became dark Moon beams glowed across the park On the corner I could see her face Wearing a maroon dress edged in lace Green, yellow, red neon lights flashed across her silky skin Revealing a sadness loneliness of her face so thin Why why would she stand at the same place on the corner With a grief stricken look as if she was a mourner Could she have a broken heart, be waiting for a lover Hoping for his return or could it be the loss of another Once I walked across the street To satisfy my curiosity hoping to meet This soleful beauty with blue eyes and black hair I smiled attempted a hello She looked straight through me as if I was not there Wait her energy is different this night I see a slight smile, her blue eyes are so bright Suddenly she bolts across the street towards the park Loud honk of a car, bang her lifeless body in the dark Who was she, what was her name She haunted my every thought each day was the same Why wouldn't she speak to me I could have been a friend Her lonely heart I so wanted to mend Every Wednesday night as the sky becomes dark The moonbeams glowed across the park I would stand on the corner to see if I could feel Her spirit her loneliness Encapsulating me in the night so still I had no answers no peace to escape this dark well Could I have saved her loved her, These thoughts are hell In my mind I am in a tunnel Ah I see the light I bolt across the street A horn blows, Bang Dead silence My life losing it's fight As my life seeps out of my body I see it was an illusion I could not have saved her Was my conclusion Her demon had become mine My answer came to late Sounds of the street fading This was my fate On the corner I could see her face Standing so lonely In a maroon dress edged with lace She whispered in my ear Obsessions That is the answer to your questions It took us to a place we didn't mean to go It imprisoned us Now you know
