Cowboy Poet
“A sea breeze be there a finer scent.” Said the sailor as to sea he went. And with the wind blowing at his back - Lucky was this ev’ry man jack. But what of the good gard’ner do tell; Yes such are their fragrances to smell. What could be better than sweet roses? Luckiest it’s said are their noses. But certainly chefs would not agree; For the kitchen is the place to be. And something in the oven baking - Of such fine smells there’s no mistaking. But what of the poet I must ask. To describe a scent is quite a task; And now it seems a little unfair - Sailors, cooks and gard’ners can compare. Yes all of these people you’ll agree, Within there smells there is simile. But a poet to describe what is meant; Well as you know words don’t have a scent. And so of this decision I’m glad; It’s things like this that make poets mad. And these poet stripes I’ll choose of course, ‘Cause a good Cowboy smells like a horse!
