Rest It In a Pile of Leaves
When we are young, so much is brand new; new people, new places, new experiences. When we are young, we are always surrounded by the people we love; they are there with us, just as another new morning is there when we wake. As time passes, we pursue things and we get busy. We get very busy. We get too busy to think about the passing time. Then, you get a phone call, and two days later you see all your friends at calling hours. It makes you feel better when you all laugh at the crazy stories and memories. Then you drive home and take off your funeral clothes. The busyness continues. Pretty soon there you are, wearing that suit again, and then again. You almost become desensitized. Then one day, the balance tips. It tips and you realize the new things, new places, and new experiences have started to diminish. They diminish and fall one by one like leaves on a tree; and it makes you look at yourself, and you see, that you are a leaf. And as you look at the one that you love by your side, you smile. You decide maybe it's time to take all your busyness and rest it in the pile of leaves.
