Robin Wears No Hood: Not For Any Contest
There's an archer dressed in Lincoln green, a friend to those in need. No thief is he who offers encouragement to people with kind deeds. A jealous sheriff, dressed in black, wants to rule Ole Nottingham, a township near Sherwood Forest, the sheriff wants to command. To get hold of said kingdom, yon sheriff set a price upon the head of the well-loved archer, Robin and his loyal band, so it's been said. Pray tell, jealous sheriff, of what crime do ye think Robin is guilty? The sheriff rubbed his chin, and said, "I'll think of something filthy." Sinister smile played o'er his lips as he patted his greasy beard. "Nay," was the cry from a band of folk, "Robin is not to be feared!" Robin shoots crafted arrows at targets painted on paper bulls eye Never would he hurt someone. It's not in his nature to even try. What thief the sheriff seeks wears many disguises in the realm, behind masks of many faces, darting about between the elms. Marian is the name of one, although I've heard her called by others. Some think that Marian and the sheriff may be sister and brother. Little John, the giant, knows the wicked game they want to play. Tuck, the gentle Friar, said they should get on their knees and pray. "Robin is not to blame for the injuries done in our woods but I know who is because I saw them pilfering all of our goods!" Will Scarlet sucked in his breath when he realized what he'd said. I guess now they'll be mad at me so they'll hunt me til I'm dead. Tuck scratched his head, trying to figure out what Will meant. Hmmm, then he smiled, nodded his head and went inside his tent. Twas no secret in the forest that Marian was not as people thought. Nay, she smiled and flirted with the men. Yes, she could be bought. Tis true Marian was once a maiden, but that was in days gone by. Now she's better known as Marian the Barbarian with a battle cry. Will Scarlet, handsomest of the lot, knew the tale was true, but don't ask him how he knew, for he'd wink and say whoo hoo! This story has no end for Robin still lives within the forest glades, and the others still wish to put him down with their sharpened blades. The moral to this story is...Wait! There is no moral point worth making, no boundaries to be taken, and no territories for anyone to be staking These characters are just make believe but I'll be tellin' ya this... The bad guys in Sherwood Forest can huff and puff with raised fists, but Robin and those who believe in him are staying where they belong. Sherwood Forest can belong to everyone, as long as they do no wrong.
