In My Glorious Teens
Many silly and foolish things I did in my glorious teens; I wore the latest fashion to attract all the pretty girls living in Ozone Park, how naïve I was to imitate legendary Gable Clark... genuine was my intention! Not even one romance lasted a brief summer; I wanted to have fun, take them to the movies... never talk about getting married and have kids; some blamed me for being a selfish charmer who took all and gave little back, angry mothers told them, " Keep away from that guy, he lies! " Being rejected for my selfishness was mean, I didn't want to be tied down at sixteen; why promise them a big, beautiful moon and a gondola ride on the Venice' lagoon? All seemed vanity, an attempt to swoon them with that song sung by another croon! When all glory vanishes with the innocence of youth, all that remains are the indelible images of wonderful days, no wish will ever bring them back to undue any regrets; deluded and alone, you come face to face with that truth.
