Son of An Angel
This one’s for the goddess of motherhood The patron saint of saving sons The one who always has the love Any time that I am craving some When I slouch she always sits me up And always picked me up and wished me well Every single time I tripped and fell She is the spirit in my wishing well And always finds a way to make A heaven from my living hell She knows and shows me what my life is worth And any time that I’ve been hurt She set my bones and stitched my wounds And no matter how big the bruise She was there to kiss it off No matter how bad her day had been Or how bad I had pissed her off She made this pessimist a visionary And put courage in a heart For which the simple thought of living’s scary She’s got a couple pictures in the dictionary And my favorite one is next to priceless I know when she reads this she will say it’s perfect But no matter how much that she likes it I know even as I write this That no words on Earth could be combined Or re-aligned to properly describe Just what her meaning to my life is But I’ll try my hardest anyway Just like she taught me and expects of me And she wants more than just the best for me And often she supplies it There ain’t no mountain high, valley low Or river wide enough To keep her from providing love When I need it when I hide my mug I don’t know how I got so lucky To be blessed with somebody this lovely And this caring here to love me Because no other mother on this side of the sun is Even half the mommy that this one is And no-one’s ever been in love as Much as this earthly angel’s son is
