Then Spoke Our Lord
Then spoke our Lord upon the scene in a world of sheep gone astray. His talk is truth, somewhat pristine for thoughtless people of the day. A taxman listened from a tree; then spoke our Lord upon the scene “Zacchaeus, come on down, I’m free.” Inviting himself was not mean. For Christ, offense was not routine where greedy merchants sold their ware. Then spoke our Lord upon the scene “My Father’s house - a house of prayer.” A guilty one laments his plea; forbearing words will intervene with “Simon, feed my sheep for me,” then spoke our Lord upon the scene. Then spoke our Lord upon the scene in a world of sheep gone astray. His talk is peace to those who lean in faith on Him who marks the Way. Contrite the thief, One paid his price - then spoke our Lord upon the scene. “Today we’ll meet in Paradise,” The cross held hope yet unforeseen. An officer with mind so keen perceived God has remote control. Then spoke our Lord upon the scene “Go home! believe, your slave is whole.” A storm at sea obeyed his will the wind and waves became serene - Those simple words of “Peace, be still” then spoke our Lord upon the scene. Still speaks our Lord to us today the loving words of truth and peace. Our deepest ears take note, obey, and pray His words will never cease. 28 January 2016
