Sick
Being sick with a snotty nose A cough, fatigue, one of those colds??? For goodness sake's everyone knows Grandmothers are too sophicated To wear anything but fancy clothes Surely not a Kleenex box attached To their chair, and looking unkempt And flowing with dispair While still sick and in the bed A horrible event ran through the homestead In the middle of early morn During an outright winter storm A car left the road and into my yard Dropping parts and getting scarred Crashed landing like thunder in a flash Shaking the sturdy window sash Two DOS(dead on scene) next to flower bed Two living one barely by a thread One lesson learned during this ordeal Never ever get behind the wheel While drinking, for that can kill Twenty-two years a very short life Not long enough for the musican's fife To play for one to dance and enjoy Just barely out the door, still just a boy Lesson two learned from this trip around No matter how bad the situation sounds Life could issue out a much worse thing Leaving grief and suffering in its wake It is good to be alive for goodness sake Even though my nose drips goop And I am in on the latest scoop My heart aches for the losses that linger Just out my front door, where death points finger About 3:30 Friday morning January 22, 2016 Chasen Nicklason age 22 died A young lady in the front passenger side died One man in the back seat in serious condition Another young man also injuried This was in my front yard..
