Letter To Santa, Christmas 1995
Dear Santa, It's almost a year now since the pain came to stay, I do not know how to react anymore - he was here but now no longer... Is it possible that tears of long ago can still stain the present heart? That a lonely soul can still fight back the rivers filled with yearning that want to carve pathways down a happy face? Oh, to see and touch him for just one more time - to hold and cherish the innocence and to say just once more I love you... But time and fate play tricks on me and ensnare me in their games - Christmastime, memorytime glimpses of the past grappling with the future. Family and friends gather around to celebrate the birth of a king - but all I do is remember the death of a prince... a royal gypsy... my love... All I know is what I feel and what I feel is full of doubt - sadness casts a dark shadow over the light but somewhere I catch the glimmer of a smile teaching me to look through the dark storm and guiding me towards the gate - a threshold of greater things that will illuminate and enlighten my path; Yet I still hesitate to sense and experience the emotion of the Season. 'Tis the season to be jolly - so help me, please... Yours truly, Me Copyright Deon J.H. Burger 2014
