Kittens Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house Nothing was stirring, except kittens playing with a toy mouse While waiting for Santa Paws to appear The kittens were chewing on the puppy’s ear The stockings were hung by the chimney with care In hopes that they couldn’t reach them up there We tucked the kittens into little fleece beds While visions of catnip danced in their heads Mama and I headed upstairs to our beds While thoughts of the chaos to come filled our heads When from the living room, we heard such a clatter I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter The wreath which had hung on the door Is now scattered in pieces upon the floor The stockings that hung in a neat little row Now had a hole in each one of the toes The tree was subjected to bright – eyed whims And now, although splendid, is missing some limbs I told the kittens to be good And hoped they really understood They touched noses with me and scampered away And knew that everything would be okay Watching them play the thought came to me That theirs is the spirit that Christmas should be
