Puppies Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the home Not a creature was stirring, except puppies who roam While waiting for Santa Paws to appear The puppies were busy chewing a pig’s ear The stockings were hung by the chimney with care In hopes that they couldn’t reach them up there We tucked the pups into little fleece beds While visions of new toys danced in their heads Mama and I headed upstairs to our beds While thoughts of the chaos to come filled our heads When from the living room, we heard such a clatter I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter Downstairs the puppies were amid the debris That came from our beloved Christmas tree A plate lay broken upon the floor Santa’s cookies were no more I told the puppies to be good And hoped they really understood They gave me a lick and scampered away And knew that everything would be okay Watching them play the thought came to me That theirs is the spirit that Christmas should be
