An Ocean Goodbye
Footprints lead the way to the calm ocean, Left in the sand by the lovers of salty water. The ocean sighs as the tide reaches shore, And as a breath is taken, it slips away once more. As the seagulls sore above the ocean, Two children splash in the tides below. Waves, like dolphins, bounce across the ocean, Slowly diminishing as they make their way to land. As each wave fades after reaching the beach, Seashells-little gifts of the ocean-are now in reach. Footprints cover the sand in search of shells, But the shells soon hide under the tide. Shoes are found, towels are packed, and shells gathered. With hair full of sand, it is time to say a goodbye. They say goodbye, although they wish to bide, And the ocean says goodbye with the wave of the tide. With shells in their pockets and hope in their eyes, They know this is not their last goodbye.
