Tower
Tower An abandoned old ten storied tower I reach Built on the solitary sea beach I am to watch spectacular sunset from the roof top. I am eager to enter, but had to stop Getting attracted to a notice Showing a brief history Might be factual or imaginary It says, ‘Children from the roof top were thrown As offering to the God of Ocean It caused owing to cruel superstition. Brutality was used to be practiced by Timber Dynasty. The dynasty existed in this local territory.’ I joined the que approaching the entrance The staircase will lead us to the top terrace I have a habit always to count the steps While going up or coming down a staircase. On every tenth step leading to a floor There is a terrace with a locked door. Reaching the roof top, I counted steps as hundred By strong iron railings terrace is bounded. The bright red sun is about to set Western sky is ready to display twilight at best Spectacular color patterns started to display By reflected, refracted and diffracted sunray. Leaning on the railing I am also observing Turbulent sea waves whirling, rolling And thrashing on the sandy shore Sun has descended down the horizon I am whispering an orison To God of Ocean Charming twilight got saturated in dark Sunrays left no single spark All the viewers are getting down I am the loner in night of no moon Sudden push on my back made me alert I turned and was horrified in discovering, Lots of children are trying to exert Pressure from all sides to throw me beyond the railing With utmost effort I am fighting, resisting, But they are large in number I am losing my strength, my eyes are gradually closing Am I going to swoon or slumber! I am the last descendant of Timber Dynasty, only survivor But I should not be punished on the crime Committed by my ancestors I am about to topple over the railing. On the verge of death, I regained my strength I released myself from their clutch. I hurried to the stair case and start to descend Thank God, at last I am saved With my usual habit, I start counting steps One, two…….Nineteen……thirty seven……Fifty ….Seventy three…..Ninety nine, Hundred…Hundred and Sixty Five Hundred……….Nine Hundred…Countless stairs ahead.
