Secret Pain of a Nine Year Old
I just can’t walk anymore, I’m nine years old and it’s tough, Things shouldn’t be so rough. Pains shooting into my stomach, I just want to puke. Take mommy’s hand, You love mommy, Don’t you? Why must we go so far for love? The last words I remember “Take my kids” The pain is getting worse. Big sister seems to understand, But her silence makes my pain worse. The night in the laundromat haunts me, We sit and act as patrons, But we are vagabonds. My stomach is killing me. Sis says he’s not our dad, She’s so sad. I wish I could help her, I can’t even keep up. I’m too small for this, I’m in a secret pain. We find our resting place, Some strangers face. Extremely abstract living. I’ve always cried for mommy, All she ever could offer was her hand, But she led us nowhere. But she would hold my hand, As I could finally puke. And that was enough to love.
