It's Not About Giving Up
I can't be the only one that breathes excitement, Or holds the inky mess in contempt, Lets the shadow cards play their tale, And take in every wordless word, While strings hang from moons shine, And jesters jest elsewhere in halls, Mirrors shine lights and stares, Glares and empty thoughts, And you, Somewhere in a glitter glow, In a falling dust on a feather, With the prowess of shadow sleek, And the coldness of drifting peak, But why can't it just rain? Wash my hands of this whole damn thing, Break my tears over whips, Or stones thrown by bystanders, I can't quite make out from the ashes, In your eyes, In my mind, Or give it all away, And walk away, Horizon could call, And maybe the hopeless feeling, This melancholy dramatic breathless monster, Will just perish at a thought, Without a sigh of relief or hate, Just die, Alone somewhere on a breeze, Floating far, You can try and hold on if you like, Don't be shocked when I let your fingers slip away, Your grip was strong enough, I just didn't want it, So don't go home and stare at nothing, And sulk in failures, You did just fine, I promise, I just didn't want it, It's not like I'm giving up, Or falling so far, I want you to know who I am, And this isn't it, This isn't me.
