Stormy Weather
(Ode to Storm Sandy) Winter storms and howling winds, Cutting paths to clear its way. Angry ocean waves crashing on shore, Crumbling structures along its path. Wonder where this storm began, Bringing destruction to our land. It's cruel and treacherous ways, Cause havoc as it destroys its prey.   Hope this storm passes without harming, Those who stumble without warning. Angry winds and continued rains, Frighten those who dare to remain. The rain and lightning cloud the wind, While its angry attack is secretly tracked. Marked for reference of future paths, Comes sunny days begging forgiveness of the attack.   Faces of whose lives are touched, Show sorrow and pain that can’t be stirred. Sallow looks and anguished fears, Subside over time as we revere.   Seeing tears and hearing cries, Of people sobbing for those who died. Leave watchers praying for those whose loss, Is more than any possession could cost.   Trees and leaves once were full, Colors glistened under the dew. The storm has blown the trees all bare, Leaving jagged branches and leafless stare.   We clean and renew our land to begin again, Preparing for another angry wind. Nature will again attack its prey, And renew its strength to storm again one day.   Shattered lives and homes destroyed, Weathered and flooded on ravaged land. Will again be renewed and life reborn, As the living prepare for the next big storm.
