A Win Is a Win At Bjo 2015
A tribute to 2015 GU13 British Junior Squash Open 3-9th January The 2015 edition of the prestigious British Junior Squash Open was unusual... The timing of the championship was in early January, that was the usual.... The quality of play in each of the age-group events was very much in evidence.. It was after all, a premier junior squash championship, awarded Platinum status.. I guessed many a squash enthusiast would have seen, heard or at least read.. About a Malaysian player named Jessica, there she played and how she fared... She performed very well, winnning in every one of her squash games... Especially in the semifinals when a highly seeded Egyptian player she did tame... With a straight 3-0 win, avenging a heartbreaking loss the previous year.. Sweet revenge it was, a very good win to cheer and to hold dear... In the final the next day, another Egyptian player she has to face... The opponent was the top seed in this event, she played at a frantic pace.. Jessica did exceptionally well, taking the 1st set easily and setting the pace.. The 2nd set was a thrilling nail-biter, going dueced but Jessica lost her pace.... Jessica next lost the 3rd set too, and then came high drama in the 4th set.. Leading 10-7, the inrushing Egyptian player should have called for a let... She was but one point away for a win, for squash glory and the ensuing fame.. But in her haste to win, she barged into Jessica so hard that the latter fell... Jessica was prone on the floor, grimaced in pain and her playing hand was lame.. The tournament referee and officials, they deliberated awhile, then proclaimed... Jessica is the deserving winner! Loud were the protests after this claim... That, people, is how the Malaysian won her 1st British Junior Open and found fame....
